The improvements to the children’s playground started in 2002 and much of the work is now complete. A five a side football pitch and basketball pitch have been laid out on a hard court; these are surrounded by high quality fencing.

Second Phase

The upgraded playground was officially opened on 15 April 2003 when hundreds of local residents, children and visitors from all over Bexley attended. The event was supported by Charlton Athletic football club who provided various attractions and facilities for the public. A five-a-side tournament launched the event giving teams in different age groups the opportunity to sample the pitch, and also play on specially marked out additional grass pitches. Fine weather contributed to an excellent afternoon of fun and entertainment.
